A computer does not have Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) installed. You install the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 on the computer. For example, when you install Microsoft SQL Server 2005, the SQL Server 2005 Setup program installs the .NET Framework 2.0 on the computer. You install IIS on the computer. Then you install SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services. In the Setup program, you select the Install but do not configure the server option in the Report Server Installation Options dialog box. After you install SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services, you cannot install SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 (SP2).
This problem occurs because the Microsoft ASP.NET account that is named ASPNET is not created.
To work around this problem, reinstall ASP.NET by running the following command at a command prompt:
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
The .NET Framework 2.0 does not create the ASP.NET account if IIS is not installed. Additionally, when you install SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services, the Setup program will not install the ASP.NET account if you select the Install but do not configure the server option on the Report Server Installation Options dialog box during the setup process.
