List of issues fixed
This hotfix package fixes the following issues:
937404 An animation feature in PowerPoint 2003 may run much slower on a multiprocessor computer
940603 You cannot save a PowerPoint 2003 presentation that is an attachment to an e-mail message in Outlook Web Access
This hotfix package fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
The language for a symbol and the text after the symbol changes to English if the language settings are set to French (Canada)
You work on a computer that has the Microsoft Office 2003 Language Settings for the Microsoft Office 2003 programs set to French (Canada). If you insert a symbol from one of the Latin font subsets in a presentation, the language of the text for the symbol and for the text after the symbol changes to English.
Note The Latin font subsets for a symbol include the following subsets:
Presentations that use a URL that is longer than 255 characters and shorter than 260 characters may not open
You work with PowerPoint presentations that are saved on a Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services Web site or on a Microsoft Office SharePoint Server Web site. If the URL for a presentation is longer than 255 characters and shorter than 260 characters, the presentation may not open. Instead, a new blank presentation may open.
A presentation is unexpectedly saved as a .ppt file when you save a PowerPoint 2007 presentation (.pptx) file programmatically
You run PowerPoint 2003 that has the Compatibility Pack for Microsoft Office 2007 File Formats installed, and you save the presentation by using the object model that uses ActivePresentation.Save. If you save a presentation as a .pptx file, the presentation is unexpectedly saved in the .ppt format. Additionally, the presentation is saved with both the .pptx and the .ppt file name extensions as in the following example:
You cannot update the source location of a linked object in a presentation
You work with a PowerPoint presentation that is saved on a Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services Web site or on a Microsoft Office SharePoint Server Web site. Additionally, the presentation contains a linked object, such as a Microsoft Office Excel Chart, that uses an HTTP URL. If the location of the source of the linked object is changed, you cannot update the source location in the presentation. Instead, you receive the following error message:
The linked file was unavailable and can't be updated.
