Problems that are corrected

The following problems are corrected in platform update 940718:
  • When you create an e-mail message by using a contact card, Microsoft Dynamics NAV 4.0 stops responding. This problem occurs on a Windows Vista-based computer that is running a 2007 Microsoft Office suite.

This problem occurs because of an unexpected access violation in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 4.0 Service Pack 3.
  • When you print a report that has many pages and that has an image in the header, you receive the following error message:
There is not enough memory to execute this function.
This problem occurs because the internal memory incorrectly processed the data in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 4.0 Service Pack 3.
  • When you delete Sum Index Field Technology (SIFT) records in the Microsoft SQL Server Option for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 4.0, the SIFT totals that appear in FlowFields are calculated incorrectly.

This problem occurs if you delete one empty SIFT record or if you delete many empty SIFT records. An empty SIFT record is a record in which all amounts equal zero. When Microsoft Dynamics NAV tries to update a SIFT record that was deleted, the update is stopped. When this occurs, the SIFT totals are incorrect.
  • When you open a request form in the design mode, text boxes do not appear in the same position in which you inserted them on the tab controls.
  • Microsoft Dynamics NAV 4.0 Service Pack 3 is incompatible with the latest version of the Dw20.exe file or with the latest version of the dwintl20.dll file (the Windows Error Reporting tool).
  • When you import a budget that includes an amount that has more than 14 digits, the last digit is deleted.

This problem occurs if the number of digits exceeds the maximum number of significant digits that can be converted.
  • Consider the following scenario. You update Microsoft Dynamics NAV 4.0 with Service Pack 2 to Microsoft Dynamics NAV 4.0 with Service Pack 3. You do this for the server, the clients, and the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Open Database Connectivity (NODBC) driver. In this scenario, when you try to connect from an external application, the NODBC driver generates the following error message:
    [HYC00][Simba][SimbaEngine ODBC Driver]Driver not capable.
This problem occurs if you set the value of the AUTOCOMMIT property to false. When you set the value to true, the driver does not generate the error message.

Note The NODBC driver does not generate this error message in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 4.0 with Service Pack 1.
  • When you run a database test that saves the output to a file or that saves the output to an event log, you receive the following error messages.
    Error message 1
A value in the filter <EXAMPLE FILTER>, in the Code field in the <EXAMPLE TABLE> table is too long for the field type.
    Type: <EXAMPLE TYPE FIELD>
    Error message 2
The test was completed with errors and warnings.
This problem occurs if the length of a field differs from the length of the related field in a different table.
  • When you pass a RecordID variable as a parameter to a function, you receive the following error message:
The expression RecordID cannot be type-converted to a RecordID value.
This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
    • The RecordID variable is a Variant variable type.
    • The native type of value that the RecordID contains does not match the native type of value that the function contains.
  • When you use a dataport on a nonexistent Option string, Microsoft Dynamics 4.0 Service Pack 3 stops responding. Additionally, the following error message is logged in the Application log:
Faulting application finsql.exe, version 4.0.3.24449, time stamp 0x46264455, faulting module finsql.exe, version 4.0.3.24449, time stamp 0x46264455, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x000b53d9, process id 0x14f4, application start time 0x01c7b34c2ac7fb4e.
This problem occurs because the "exception handling" process does not check for NULL values.
  • When you click a value in a FlowFilter field, nothing happens.

This problem occurs because you cannot create a filter from a FlowFilter field.
  • The SQL Server Option for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 4.0 Service Pack 3 does not provide index hints for all queries.

This problem occurs because you have to enable the "index hint" function. By default, it is disabled.
  • You cannot create a new company if the company name contains special characters.

This problem occurs because you cannot use special characters in company names in Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
  • When you run the test database, you receive the following error message:
One value of the filter EXAMPLE FILTER, of field code, from table EXAMPLE TABLE is too big for the type of field
    Type: EXAMPLE TYPE FIELD
The test was completed with errors and warnings.
Additionally, the destination file is not created. This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
    • The test database is configured to send output to a file or to the Application log.
    • The length of the field type is 20 characters. However, the length of the field type for the related field in another table is 50 characters.
