On a Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2)-based computer, you run an application that uses the Microsoft Rich Edit 2.0 component. When you perform a copy-and-paste operation or a drag-and-drop operation in the rich edit control of the application, the application may stop unexpectedly. Additionally, you may receive the following error message:
ApplicationName has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
This problem occurs if the application uses the PFM_BORDER parameter and the wBorderSpace parameter in the PARAFORMAT2 structure.
This problem occurs because the Rich Text Format (RTF) writer and the RTF reader do not check borders in Windows XP SP2. Therefore, when you perform a copy-and-paste operation or a drag-and-drop operation in the rich edit control, an access violation occurs. This access violation causes the application to stop unexpectedly.
