When you try to create a Windows Vista-based Windows Imaging Format (WIM) build in Microsoft Solution Accelerator for Business Desktop Deployment (BDD), you may receive the following error message:
Error during wizard processing An unexpected error occurred while processing the wizard results. Collection was modified; enumeration operation may not execute.
You cannot create the WIM build.
This problem occurs if you have added components such as a hotfix or an update to the WIM image file.
This problem occurs because Windows Vista cannot update the answer file when you add some components to the WIM image file.
Sometimes, a component that you add to the WIM image file may have the same name and version as a component that is already in the file. However, when the VersionScopes attribute of the new component differs from that of the existing component, the Windows System Image Manager Component Platform Interface API (WSIM CPI API) may incorrectly determine that these components do not match. Therefore, the WSIM CPI API cannot update the answer file. Instead, the WSIM CPI API generates an error.
For example, if you add update 933566 to the WIM image file, two IE-InternetExplorer components coexist in the file. These components have similar versions (6.0.6000.16473 and 6.0.6000.20583). However, the components' VersionScopes attributes are different. One is nonSxS, and the other is NonSxS.
