Error message when you try to browse a Web page that is hosted on a server that is running IIS 7.0: "HTTP Error 401.3 - Unauthorized"

SYMPTOMS
When you try to browse a Web page that is hosted on a server that is running Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.0, you receive the following error message:
Server Error in Application "<application name>"

HTTP Error 401.3 - Unauthorized

HRESULT: 0x80070005

Description of HRESULT:You do not have permission to view this directory or page because of the access control list (ACL) configuration or encryption settings for this resource on the Web server.
Note In this error message, <application name> represents the actual name of the application.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because the authenticated user account does not have appropriate permissions to the Web page file that is requested.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, grant the Read permission to the account of the authenticated user for the file that you want to browse. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. In Microsoft Windows Explorer, locate the folder that contains the file that you want to browse.
  2. Right-click the folder, and then click Properties.
  3. Click the Security tab.
  4. Add the account of the authenticated user.
  5. Grant the Read permission to the account, and then click OK.
