When you transfer large files over a slow network link in Microsoft Office Communicator 2005 or in Microsoft Office Communicator 2007, you receive the following error message:
Cannot send file name to remote user. This may be due to firewall restrictions or network problems. Please try again. If you need further assistance, contact your system administrator.
This issue occurs because the original Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) session that initiated the file transfer expired.
When you transfer large files, the default idle time-out period is 10 minutes. Any file transfer session that exceeds this period generates the error message.
To work around this issue, increase the idle time-out period of the SIP session to a period that is longer than the time that is required to copy the file. To do this, follow these steps.
Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.
