FIX: Error message when you check in a UTF-8 or UTF-16 encoding file and then update the warehouse in Visual Studio 2008 Team Foundation Server: "An unexpected exception occurred while calculating code churn"
Consider the following scenario. You check in a UTF-8 or UTF-16 encoding file in Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Team Foundation Server. Then, you update the warehouse in Team Foundation Server. In this scenario, an error message that resembles the following may be logged in the event log:

Note This problem occurs only when the Team Foundation Server application tier components are not installed on the system disk.

This hotfix does not replace any other hotfixes.
The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.
To work around this problem, install the Team Foundation Server application tier components on the system disk.
