After you install Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2), no language packs are available when you click View available updates in the Windows Update item in Control Panel.
Note Language packs are available only for Windows Vista Ultimate.
There will be two releases of Windows Vista SP2. The first release of Windows Vista SP2 is available in the following languages:
The second release of Windows Vista SP2 will be available in the remaining languages. The second release of Windows Vista SP2 is scheduled for later in 2009.
Because Windows Vista SP2 is currently not compatible with all languages packs, users of the first release of Windows Vista SP2 will not be offered any language packs from Windows Update until the second release of Windows Vista SP2. Therefore, if you want to install one of the 5 language packs that are listed in this section, you must install the language pack before you install Windows Vista SP2.
To work around this issue, use one of the following methods.
Method 1: Check again at a later date
To work around this problem, check for the language pack that you want at a later date. Windows Vista SP2 will be available in other languages later in 2009. When the second release of Windows Vista SP2 is available, you can install the language pack.
Method 2: Uninstall Windows Vista SP2
To work around this issue, uninstall Windows Vista SP2. You can reinstall Windows Vista SP2 when the language pack that you want is available.
To uninstall Windows Vista SP2, follow these steps:
Click Start, type Control Panel in the Start Search box, and then click Control Panel in the Programs list.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue.
Click Programs and Features.
Click View installed updates.
Click Service Pack for Microsoft Windows (KB948465), and then click Uninstall.
