SYMPTOMS
When you open the speech voice response workflow application controls in design view in Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 Speech Server, a red X character appears on the controls. This problem occurs if you have installed one of the following components on the computer:
  • Microsoft Visual Studio 2008
  • Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1)
  • The Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5
CAUSE
This issue occurs because the Communications Server 2007 Speech Server application designer caches the Windows Workflow default theme font type. This font type is available as a static reference in the System.Workflow.Componentmodel.dll assembly. The System.Workflow.Componentmodel.dll assembly updates the font type during each workflow view load, and then deletes the old font. Therefore, if Communications Server 2007 Speech Server uses the old font reference, the font reference becomes invalid.

Note The Communications Server 2007 Speech Server application designer has been updated to explicitly use the Windows Workflow font without caching the font.
