Symptoms
on a computer that is running Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3), you try to use the "Files and Settings Transfer" Wizard to import settings from another computer. If that computer is running a version of Windows XP that is earlier than Windows XP SP3, you may receive the following error message:
Your migration store was created with a previous version of Files and Settings Transfer Wizard. Please collect your settings using the current version of the Files and Setting Transfer Wizard. It is available on the Windows XP CD under Perform Additional Tasks. You can also create a wizard disk by running the wizard on your Windows XP computer.
Cause
This issue may occur if hotfix 896344 is not installed on the computer that is running the version of Windows XP that is earlier than Windows XP SP3.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, install hotfix 896344 on the computer that is running the version of Windows XP that is earlier than Windows XP SP3. Then, try again to import the settings from this computer.
