The Exchange ActiveSync process is unsuccessful, and an error code is returned to the mobile device in Exchange Server 2003

In Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, you try to synchronize the Exchange Server inbox or some subfolders with a mobile device. When you do this, the Exchange ActiveSync process is unsuccessful.
Additionally, the following error code is returned to the mobile device:
This issue occurs because the Authenticated Users group must have Write permissions to the %Temp% folder on the mailbox server. Large search requests may require that Internet Information Services (IIS) temporarily write this information to the %Temp% folder.
To resolve this issue, assign Write permissions to the Authenticated Users group for the %Temp% folder on the mailbox server on which the users reside.
To do this, follow these steps:
- On the Exchange Server back-end server, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
- Click Advanced, and then click Environment Variables.
- In the System Variables field, scroll until you see TEMP. Note the path for TEMP. For example, this path may be the following path: C:\WINDOWS\TEMP
- Open Windows Explorer, locate the folder that you noted in step 3, right-click the folder, and then click Properties.
- Click Security, and then add the Authenticated Users group. Make sure that the Read & Execute, List Folder Contents, and Write permissions are selected for this group.
- Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
- Type iisreset.
