Consider the following scenario. You upgrade from Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. You export the Quick Campaign entity from this environment. Then, you import the Quick Campaign entity into a clean environment of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. In this scenario, you receive the following error message:
Failure: bulkoperation: Invalid Argument.
Additionally, you notice that some obsolete Bulk Import views are left in the database during the upgrade from Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0.
This problem occurs because the obsolete views from the upgraded Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 environment are included in the customization files that are no longer valid for import on a new Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 server. These obsolete views are moved to their own entity, and these obsolete views are named Import.
These obsolete views are on the Quick Campaign entity as follows:
All Bulk Imports
Completed Bulk Imports
In-Progress Bulk Imports
My In-Progress Bulk Imports
Quick Find Bulk Import
A setup update is available from Microsoft. When you install Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0, or when you upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0, you can check for setup updates. If you select the option to check for setup updates, the application downloads any new setup updates and applies the setup updates to the installation while the setup process is running.
To obtain this fix, use the Update Installation Files option during Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 setup. The setup update cannot be removed.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
