This article describes the 2007 Microsoft Office system issue that is fixed in the 2007 Office system hotfix package that is dated May 6, 2008.

Issue that the hotfix package fixes
This hotfix package fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
Consider the following scenario. On a client computer, you install Microsoft Office 2003 by using a Group Policy object. This Group Policy object contains a custom transform (.mst file) that was created by using the Office 2003 Resource Kit Custom Installation Wizard. Then, you try to install the 2007 Office system by using another Group Policy object on the client computer.
In this scenario, the Office Source Engine (Ose.exe) may crash.
A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. If this section does not appear, contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the hotfix.

Note The "Hotfix download available" form displays the languages for which the hotfix is available. If you do not see your language, it is because a hotfix is not available for that language.
How to apply the hotfix
Extract the Deployca.mst file from the hotfix package. To do this, follow these steps:
Download the hotfix package.
Extract the Office2007-kb951643-fullfile-x86-glb.exe file from the hotfix package. To do this, double-click the 347796_intl_i386_zip.exe file, and then select the location to which you want to extract the file.
Extract the Deployca.mst file from the Office2007-kb951643-fullfile-x86-glb.exe file. To do this, double-click the Office2007-kb951643-fullfile-x86-glb.exe file, and then select the location to which you want to extract the transform.
Add the Deployca.mst file to the 2007 Office Group Policy object package. To do this, follow these steps:
Start Group Policy Management Console. To do this, click Start, click Run, type gpmc.msc, and then click OK.
In the console tree, expand Group Policy Objects.
Right-click the Group Policy object that you want to modify, and then click Edit.
In the Group Policy Management Editor window, expand Computer Configuration, expand Software Settings, and then click Software Installation.
Right-click anywhere in the right-side pane, click New, and then click Package.
In the Open dialog box, find the network installation point that you created, select the Windows Installer (.msi) file in the main product folder of the Office product that you are installing, and then click Open.
For example, for Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007, select Enterprise.WW\EnterpriseWW.msi.
Click Advanced to customize the options.
In the Properties dialog box for the package, click the Modifications tab, and then click Add to add the modifications.
In the Open dialog box, click the Deployca.mst file that you extracted from the hotfix package, and then click Open.
You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.
Hotfix replacement information
This hotfix does not replace a previously released hotfix.
To use one of the hotfixes in this package, you do not have to make any changes to the registry.
This hotfix may not contain all the files that you must have to fully update a product to the latest build. This hotfix contains only the files that you must have to correct the issues that are listed in this article.
The global version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.
After the hotfix is installed, the global version of this hotfix has the file attributes, or a later version of the file attributes, that are listed in the following table:
