You cannot access the Color dialog box when you print a file from an Office for Mac program

You print a file in a Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac program or in a Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac program. When you click the ColorWell button in the Print dialog box, the Color dialog box appears. However, after you open the Color dialog box, the following symptoms occur:
  1. You cannot access any of the functions in the Color dialog box.
  2. You can move the Color dialog box, but you cannot close it.
  3. If you try to use a keyboard shortcut, the shortcut affects the Print dialog box underneath the Color dialog box.
Note ColorWell is a printer extension that is available to some printers.
This issue occurs because Office for Mac does not recognize the Color dialog box. This prevents you from accessing the dialog box options. Office for Mac only recognizes the Print dialog box.
To work around this issue, create a printer preset that uses the colors that you want to use. You can create and save customized printer presets in the Mac OS X operating system. You can then select this preset in the Printer dialog box when you print a file from an Office for Mac program. For more information about how to create printer presets, see the Mac OS X Help.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
