Error message when you try to add a contract line to a contract in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0: "The requested record was not found or you do not have sufficient permissions to view it"

Symptoms
You try to add a contract line to a contract in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. When you do this, you populate the Product field by using the lookup button or by typing the name of a product in the Product field. Then, you click Save. However, you receive the following error message:
The requested record was not found or you do not have sufficient permissions to view it.
Note This problem does not occur if you use the Form Assistant feature to populate the Product field.
Resolution
