After you install the Microsoft LifeCam software on a computer that is running an "N" version of Windows Vista, you may be unable to start the LifeCam software. When you try to start the LifeCam software, you may receive the following error message:
This application has failed to start because Wmvcore.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix the problem.
If you try to reinstall the LifeCam software and then start the LifeCam software, you receive the same error message.
You experience this problem only on computers that are running one of the following versions of Windows Vista or Window 7:
Windows 7 Starter N
Windows 7 Home Premium N
Windows 7 Professional N
Windows 7 Ultimate N
Windows Vista Home Basic N
Windows Vista Business N
Windows Vista Home Basic KN
Windows Vista Business KN
This problem occurs because the European editions of Windows Vista and of Windows 7 that are designated as "N" versions do not include Windows Media Player and its related technologies. The LifeCam software uses components of Windows Media Player and its related technologies.
