Consider the following scenario. You browse Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 content, such as ASP content or HTML content, in Internet Explorer. In this scenario, you receive the following error message:
The data is invalid.
When you view the IIS 6.0 Web log, you see the following entries:
#Software: Microsoft Internet Information Services 6.0#Version: 1.0#Date: <Date> <Time>#Fields: date time s-sitename s-ip cs-method cs-uri-stem cs-uri-query s-port cs-username c-ip cs(User-Agent) sc-status sc-substatus sc-win32-status <Date> <Time> W3SVC1 127.0.0.1 GET / - 80 - 127.0.0.1 Mozilla/4.0+(compatible;+MSIE+7.0;+Windows+NT+5.2;+.NET+CLR+1.1.4322;+.NET+CLR+2.0.50727;+.NET+CLR+3.0.04506.30) 500 19 13<Date> <Time> W3SVC1 127.0.0.1 GET /test.asp - 80 - 127.0.0.1 Mozilla/4.0+(compatible;+MSIE+7.0;+Windows+NT+5.2;+.NET+CLR+1.1.4322;+.NET+CLR+2.0.50727;+.NET+CLR+3.0.04506.30) 500 19 13
Note In the Web log, IIS 6.0 logs an HTTP status code of 500 with a sub-status code of 19 (HTTP Error 500.19).
This issue occurs because invalid data is set for one or more metabase keys. The most common metabase key to contain invalid data is the ScriptMaps key. HTTP Error 500.19 is logged in the Web log if you do not have valid metadata for a Web site node. Therefore, you cannot provide URLs from the Web site node, even if the data is sufficient for a certain subset of the Web site node.
If you receive the HTTP Error 500.19 error when you change the metabase, the changes to the metabase probably made it impossible to parse at least one section of the metabase. Typically, this behavior occurs when the Enable Direct Metabase Edit option is turned on in IIS 6.0 Manager.
To resolve this issue, make sure that the script map does not contain spaces. Additionally, make sure that the script map does not contain random character strings.
Typically, a script map must resemble the following script map:
Note If this issue still occurs, restore a known good copy of the metabase.
It is important to back up the metabase frequently. For more information about how to create a metabase backup, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

You will also receive the HTTP Error 500.19 error in IIS 7.0. However, in this case, the reasons are different. For more information, click the following article numbers to view the articles in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
