This article has been archived. It is offered "as is" and will no longer be updated.
You establish a direct cable connection to a Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) server from a Windows Embedded CE 6.0-based device. However, the connection may fail when one of the following conditions is true:
- The server does not support the PPP handshake.
- The server responds to the "CLIENT" connection request with a string other than the standard "CLIENTSERVER" response.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Unimodem\Settingssubkey. If the server does not exchange strings to establish the connection, you should set the registry entries to an empty string. Otherwise, you can set the string value to the string value that is actually used by the server. For example, if the server responds to the "CLIENT" connection request with "SERVER," you should set the DCCResponse registry entry to "SERVER."
