INTRODUCTION
When you add a Terminal Services client application to the Intelligent Application Gateway (IAG) portal, you can configure the width and the height of the Remote Desktop window in Microsoft IAG 2007 and in Whale Communications IAG 3.6. Sometimes, you want Terminal Services clients to start in full-screen mode instead of in a window that has a predefined size.

This article describes the steps to configure Terminal Services clients to start in full-screen mode.
More information
To configure Terminal Services clients to start in full-screen mode, follow these steps:
  1. Copy the following code from the appropriate section, and then paste the code into a Notepad file:

    IAG 2007 and all versions of IAG 3.6, except IAG 3.6 with Update 4
    <config> <!-- ********************************************************************************* ** ** ** Templates ** ** ** ********************************************************************************* --> <templates version="3" use-lsp="1"> <!-- ********************************************************************************* ** Windows XP Terminal Services Client - variable screen resolution ** ********************************************************************************* --> <!-- Auto-Sense mode --> <template name="MSTSAC 800*600" userrights="0" use-with-lsp="yes" win="yes"><!--Windows--> <port id="0" remoteport="3389" localport="23456" flags="2" /> <exec exe="mstsc.exe -v:%localip%:%localport% /F" flags="4" param="" use-with-lsp="no"/> <exec exe="mstsc.exe /F -v:%leadserver%" flags="4" param="" use-with-lsp="only"/> <config-file flags="33" path="" ><![CDATA[ [1\Software\Microsoft\Terminal Server Client\Default] MRU0=C%localip%:%localport% Full Address=C%localip%:%localport% ]]> </config-file> </template> </templates> <content-filters> </content-filters> <access-lists> </access-lists> <WFEConfiguration> </WFEConfiguration> </config>
    IAG (e-Gap Appliance) 3.6 with Update 4
    <config> <!-- ********************************************************************************* ** ** ** Templates ** ** ** ********************************************************************************* --> <templates version="3" use-lsp="1"> <keep-alive timeout="15"/> <!-- ********************************************************************************* ** Windows XP Terminal Services Client - variable screen resolution ** ********************************************************************************* --> <!-- Auto-Sense mode --> <template name="MSTSAC 800*600" userrights="0" use-with-lsp="yes" win="yes"><!--Windows--> <port id="0" remoteport="3389" localport="23456" flags="2" /> <exec exe="mstsc.exe -v:%localip%:%localport% /F" flags="4" param="" use-with-lsp="no"/> <exec exe="mstsc.exe -w:%HRes% -h:%VRes% -v:%leadserver%" flags="4" param="" use-with-lsp="only"/> <config-file flags="33" path="" ><![CDATA[ [1\Software\Microsoft\Terminal Server Client\Default] MRU0=C%localip%:%localport% Full Address=C%localip%:%localport% ]]> </config-file> </template> </templates> <content-filters> </content-filters> <access-lists> </access-lists> <WFEConfiguration> </WFEConfiguration> </config>
  2. Save the Notepad file as follows:
    SSLVPNTemplates.xml
    Notes
    • In both versions of the SSLVPNTemplates.xml file, an /F switch is added to the command-line of the Mstsc.exe program. The /F switch instructs the Terminal Services client to start in full-screen mode.
    • In the SSLVPNTemplates.xml file that is specifically for e-Gap Appliance 3.6 with Update 4, a <keep-alive timeout="15"/> setting is added.
  3. Copy this new SSLVPNTemplates.xml file to the following folder:
    \Whale-Com\e-Gap\von\conf\CustomUpdate
  4. Open the IAG Configuration console. To do this, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Whale Communications IAG, and then click Configuration.
  5. On the File menu, click Activate.
  6. On the Activate Configuration page, click to select the Apply changes made to external configuration settings check box, and then click Activate.
  7. Click OK.
