You try to set up a Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) cluster in a disjointed namespace. However, the service principal name (SPN) registration fails when the System Attendant Resource is brought online. And, an Error event is logged that resembles the following:
Event Type: Warning Event Source: ClusSvc Event Category: Network Name Resource Event ID: 1119 Description: The registration of DNS name <FQDN> for resource '<network name>' over adapter 'Local Area Connection' failed for the following reason: DNS bad key.
Additionally, the registration fails every time that you bring the System Attendant Resource online. In this case, an Error event is logged that resembles the following:
Event Type: Error Event Source: MSExchange Cluster Event Category: ExRes Event ID: 1034 Description: Clustered Mailbox Server: <network name> Physical Server: <computer name> Failed to register the Exchange-specific service principal names in Active Directory while bringing resource 'Exchange System Attendant Instance (<network name>)' online. Impersonation was attempted using the computer account.
Note A service principal name (SPN) is the name by which a client uniquely identifies an instance of a service.
