After you upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Outlook version 4.0, the Windows Terminal Services or Citrix deployment cannot host as many CRM users as you could in Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Outlook version 3.0. This problem occurs even though you are using the same hardware.
Additionally, each hosted CRM user consumes about 200 megabytes (MB) of memory in Microsoft Dynamics 4.0 (50 MB for the Add-in with Outlook and another 150 MB for the Hoster process). However, in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0, the memory footprint for the Outlook Add-in is about 50 MB.
This problem is fixed in the latest cumulative update rollup for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Install this cumulative update rollup on computers that are running the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 server components or the Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Microsoft Office Outlook components.
To enable this hotfix, follow these steps:
Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
Locate the following registry entry:
Right-click MSCRMClient, click New, and then click DWORD Value.
Type EnablePeriodicCollection for the name.
Right-click EnablePeriodicCollection, click Modify, and then type 1 for the value.
You must have Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 installed to apply this cumulative update rollup.
If you are prompted, restart the computer after you install the cumulative update rollup.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
