The attachment that is included in a mail merge template is lost during the customization import process in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0

Symptoms
When you import a mail merge template that contains an attachment, only the mail merge template is imported successfully. The attachment is lost during the import process.Additionally, the file size of the attachment in the bottom of the template form appears to be zero bytes.
Resolution
