Some attributes of a System Center Configuration Manager 2007 client may be missing after it is configured as a branch distribution point

This article has been archived. It is offered "as is" and will no longer be updated.
Consider the following scenario:
  • You configure a client as a Branch Distribution Point (BDP) in System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 1.
  • You wait for the WINNT Server Discovery agent to run.
In this scenario, some attributes of this client are missing immediately after the WINNT Server discovery agent runs. For example, the following attributes of this client may be missing:
  • IP Addresses
  • IP Subnets
  • Operating System Name and Version
  • Resource Domain or Workgroup
Because of the issue, you cannot control this client remotely. The issue disappears after the next heartbeat DDR record is received. The issue occurs again after the WINNT discovery agent runs again.
During the generation of the Data Discovery Record (DDR) for branch distribution points, the WINNT discovery agent incorrectly sets empty values for the previously-noted attributes. This affects remote control. Remote control depends on the client's operating system version information.
