Various 0X80005000 errors occur when Antigen 9.0 for Exchange Server does not receive a response or receives the wrong EVS name in a clustered Exchange Server environment

SYMPTOMS
Microsoft Antigen 9.0 for Exchange Server periodically makes LDAP requests for the Exchange Virtual Server (EVS) name in clustered Microsoft Exchange Server environments. By default, if Antigen 9.0 for Exchange Server does not receive a response or if Antigen 9.0 for Exchange Server receives a wrong EVS name, Antigen 9.0 for Exchange Server uses the physical node name. This behavior causes various 0X80005000 errors. And, you receive an error that resembles the following error message:
GetAllExchVirtualServerNames: OpenCluster(QS72397) Failed -Access is denied.
RESOLUTION
This problem is fixed in Hotfix Rollup 5 for Antigen 9.0 with Service Pack 1. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Note
  • You must install Antigen 9.0 with Service Pack 1 before you install Hotfix Rollup 5 for Antigen 9.0 with Service Pack 1.
  • After you install this hotfix, Antigen 9.0 caches the EVS name at the first successful call. Therefore, the need for additional calls is eliminated, and the problem that is described in the "Symptoms" section does not occur.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
