No users are found when you search for some system users by using their last names from a relationship in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0

Symptoms
From a relationship in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0, you search for some system users by using their last names. When you do this, no users are found.
Cause
This problem occurs because the lookup dialog box uses code that creates a database query by using the primary attribute of an entity. The primary attribute that is used for a system user is the fullname attribute. When Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 creates the conditions for the query, the lookup dialog box appends a wildcard to the beginning of the search text. However, the lookup dialog box does not append a wildcard to the end of the search text. Therefore, you can search for users by using their first names. However, you cannot search for users by using their last names.
Resolution
This problem is fixed in the latest cumulative update rollup for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
