Error message in the Configuration Manager console when you create a new task sequence: "The task sequence cannot be created"

When you use the New Task Sequence Wizard to create a new task sequence in the System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Configuration Manager console, you receive the following error message:
Error: The task sequence cannot be created. Please see following error information or log file to resolve the issue.     ConfigMgr Error Object:      instance of SMS_ExtendedStatus      {                      Description = "User \"domain\\<user name>\" does not have permission to modify package information."                      ErrorCode = 1112017920;                      File = "e:\\nts_sms_fre\\sms\\siteserver\\sdk_provider\\smsprov\\ssptspackage.cpp"                      Line = 792;                      ObjectInfo = "2"                      Operation = "PutInstance"                      ParameterInfo = ""                      ProviderName = "ExtnProv"                      StatusCode = 2147749889;      };
This problem occurs if the account of the "Task Sequences" item has the following class permissions:
  • Read
  • Create
  • Delegate
Note The Modify permission is not granted to this user account.

Note The new task sequence is created even though the error message occurs. However, some properties in the Task Sequences package contain error values. This problem also occurs when you use all systems that are running the Configuration Manager console.
This problem occurs because the New Task Sequence Wizard incorrectly requires the modify permission when a new task sequence object is created.
