You receive error code 1206 when you run an application that uses the WLanSetProfile function on a Windows XP Service Pack 3-based computer

Support for Windows XP has ended

Microsoft ended support for Windows XP on April 8, 2014. This change has affected your software updates and security options. Learn what this means for you and how to stay protected.

You develop an application that uses the WLanSetProfile function to configure some Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) profiles. When you run the application on a Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3)-based client computer, the application may not run, and you may receive a "1206 (ERROR_BAD_PROFILE)" error code. This error code means that the network connection profile is corrupted.

Note This problem does not occur on a Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2)-based computer.
