Assume that you use the Rapid Migration Tool (RMT) for Microsoft Dynamics GP to convert Intuit QuickBooks data into the Microsoft Excel format. However, when you perform the "Exporting data into Excel" process, you receive the following error message:
To work around this problem, delete the special characters from the company name in Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0. To do this, follow these steps:
Use the sa login to start Microsoft Dynamics GP.
On the Microsoft Dynamics GP menu, point to Tools, point to Setup, point to Company, and then click Company.
In the Company Name field, determine whether there are any special characters. If there are, delete them. For more information about special characters, see the "More information" section.
Note A test company that uses the <TEST> clause within the name is also affected. Temporarily delete "<TEST>" when you use the Rapid Migration Tool.
To save and close the Company Setup window, click OK.
Run the Rapid Migration Tool to perform the "Exporting master data into Excel" process.
When the Rapid Migration Tool has completed the migration process, you can revert the company name to any name that you want, as long as it contains only Microsoft Dynamics GP-compliant characters.
Special characters include, but are not limited to, the following.
Left angle bracket
Right angle bracket
