In Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0, the notes are lost if a duplicate record is detected when you try to save a record

Symptoms
Consider the following scenario. You add notes to a record. When you try to save the record, a duplicate record is detected. Then, you click Save to save the record. Or, you click Cancel to return to the form to edit the record. In this scenario, the notes are lost.

If you add notes after the record is saved, you do not experience this problem.

To enable this hotfix, add the following registry entryas a DWORD value to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM server and to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Microsoft Office Outlook:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSCRM\DisableNotesForDuplicateDetectedEntityCreate
A value of 1 indicates that the registry entry is turned on.
