When you open a master project in Microsoft Office Project 2003, and then you expand many subprojects, Project 2003 crashes. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

This issue is fixed in the Office Project Server 2003 and Microsoft Office Project 2003 Post-Service Pack 3 hotfix package (Project.msp) that is dated October 28, 2008. Therefore, you should apply and install this hotfix package.

To fix this issue, follow these steps:
Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click String Value.
Type FreeODBCCache, and then press ENTER.
Right-click FreeODBCCache, and then click Modify.
In the Value data box, type True, and then click OK.
Exit Registry Editor.
