Windows Server 2008 does not support Corrected Memory Error notification through Corrected Machine Check (CMC) interrupts and through CMC polling. Therefore, the system does not receive any memory errors on certain Intel Itanium processors, such as Intel Tukwila processors.
This hotfix enables Windows Server 2008 to support Corrected Memory Error notification through CMC interrupts and CMC polling. It also enables Predictive Failure Analysis (PFA) for memory errors that are generated by Corrected Memory Error notification in Windows Server 2008.
