Consider the following scenario:
This problem occurs because power management in Windows is performed by the PCI Bus driver (PCI.sys) instead of by ACPI.sys.
If you enable the _OSC method in the BIOS, the method does not wake the computer up from S4 or S3 mode when the network adapter receives a Wake-on-LAN (WOL) packet.
To work around this problem, disable the _OSC method if it is enabled in the BIOS.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
