Upgrade to System Center Mobile Device Manager 2008 SP1 fails with the following message:
"There was an error reaching the database. Check the database credentials and the SQL server location and try again."
Database migration during upgrade to System Center Mobile Device Manager SP1 does not support the use of SQL username and password as an authentication method. Windows Authentication must be used, but if the user who is performing the upgrade does not have the correct privileges, an error will occur.
Use Windows Integrated Authentication and ensure that the user who is performing the upgrade has sufficient privileges on the SQL server where MDM databases exist.
