INTRODUCTION
An update is available for Windows Search 4.0. This update contains a hotfix that allows for customization of the regional settings of the EN-US locale when you use a symbol other than a point as the decimal symbol. For example, you might use a comma as the decimal symbol. The hotfix is explained in detail in the "More Information" section.
More information
Before you install this update, a search that has many queries fails if the following conditions are true:
  • The computer is running one of the following operating systems together with Windows Search 4.0:
    • Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2)
    • Windows XP with SP3
    • Windows Server 2003 SP2
  • You use a customized decimal symbol in the regional settings of the EN-US locale.
This update for Windows Search 4.0 fixes this problem. After you apply this update, you can search all decimal-based queries even when the decimal symbol of the EN-US locale is customized.
