This article describes the Microsoft Office Excel 2007 issue that is fixed in the Excel 2007 hotfix package that is dated February 24, 2009.
This article describes the following items about the hotfix package:
  • The issues that the hotfix package fixes.
  • The prerequisites for installing the hotfix package.
  • Whether you must restart the computer after you install the hotfix package.
  • Whether the hotfix package is replaced by any other hotfix packages.
  • Whether you must make any registry changes.
  • The files that the hotfix package contains.
This hotfix fixes the following issues:
  • From a Web server, you try to open an Excel 2007 workbook project that is built by using Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System (VSTO). If you pass a querystring parameter to the file, you receive an error message that resembles the following:

Customized functionality in this program will not work because the location of URL is not in the Office Trusted Locations list, or all trusted locations are disabled. Contact your administrator for further assistance.

Note In this error message, URL represents the specific file that you are using at the time.
  • When you move a chart to another sheet in the same workbook, the series are set as external to this workbook. This issue can occur when the list separator is not defined as comma. For example, if the regional setting is set to French or German, the list separator is defined as semicolon.
  • When you move sheets between workbooks, Excel 2007 crashes. This issue can occur if the workbooks are in previous file formats.
  • You enable some Excel add-ins in Excel 2007. When you close and then restart Excel 2007, all loaded Excel add-ins are added to the My Recent Documents list.
  • When you try to delete a comment in a circular reference cell, Excel 2007 crashes. This issue occurs on a Windows XP-based or Windows Server 2003-based computer that is running the 2007 Microsoft Office system.
  • If you open an XLS file in Excel 2007 on a Windows Vista-based computer, it takes much longer than it does when you open the same file in Excel 2003 on a Windows XP-based computer.
  • When you try to edit a series formula of a chart on a separate worksheet by clicking the Formula bar, Excel 2007 crashes.
  • In Excel 2007, the Advanced Filter feature does not recognize the Transition formula evaluation setting.
  • In Excel 2007, you open an XLS file that contains macros. When you run the macros, it takes much longer than it does in Excel 2003.
  • Controls on a graph sheet are not printed even if the Print object check box is selected on the Properties tab in the Format Control dialog box.
  • Consider the following scenario. On a computer that has the 2007 Office suite Service Pack 1 installed, you create an XLS file in Excel 2007. Then you remove the document properties of this file and save the file on a network share. In this scenario, when you reopen the file and make no changes, the modified date of the file is updated to the current opening time.
  • You select the AutorePublish every time this workbook is saved check box in the Publish as Web Page dialog box. However, when you save the Excel workbook, only the active sheet is published.
