Consider the following scenario. You are using Windows Media Center on Windows Vista SP1 to record an analog TV broadcast. The analog TV signal you are using is weak. A recording was scheduled, but the computer was shut down before the start time for the recording. The computer was later started before the recording end time.
For example, the recording may have been set for 10:00 to 11:00, the computer was shut down at 9:45, then subsequently started at 10:30.
In this scenario, the scheduled recording may not occur. Additionally, the following event may be logged in the "Media Center" event log:
Event Log ID: 8 Source: Recording Level: Warning Message: Manual Recording was not recorded. A tuner failure occurred and no other tuners were available at the time of recording.
This issue may occur when the TV broadcast signal is very weak (i.e. the signal is lost and re-acquired continuously).
As this issue occurs only when the analog TV signal is very weak, a stronger analog TV source may need to be obtained.
The signal must be of very poor quality for this issue to occur. Normally, this issue only occurs when NTSC/ATSC/DVB-T signals are of such poor quality that snow or static appears on the screen and it is difficult to view the program.
