This article describes the Microsoft Office Word 2003 issue that is fixed in the hotfix package that is dated February 24, 2009.
Issue that this hotfix package fixes
This hotfix fixes the following issues that are not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
Word 2003 crashes when you run a macro to merge several Word documents.
After you install security update MS08-042, you may notice a change in behavior when you try to open a document from an http path when Word 2003 is already open.
That is, before you install this security update, the Word 2003 window in which the document appears comes to the front. After you install the update, the Word 2003 icon in the Windows task bar begins to flash when you try to open a document from an http path. Additionally, the document is displayed in Word 2003 only when you click the icon.
You add a StyleRef field in the header of a document in Word 2003. If you add a digital signature to the document, the StyleRef field is displayed incorrectly in the header.
