Error message when you try to forward an e-mail message that contains a modified attachment: "The attachment <name of the document> from the message <subject of the message> is open or in use by another application"
In Microsoft Office Outlook 2007, you open an e-mail message that has a file attached, such as a Word document.
You open the Word document, make a change, and then save the changes to the document.
Note In this case, you are not prompted to select a location for the changed document.
You close the document, but you do not close Word.
In this scenario, when you try to forward this message, you receive the following error message:
The attachment <name of the document> from the message <subject of the message> is open or in use by another application. If you continue, you will lose any changes you made to the attachment that is using the other application. Do you want to continue?
If you click Yes in this message, a new message will be created successfully. Additionally, the document that is attached in this new message contains the changes that you made previously.
