When you use Communicator on a Windows XP-based computer to communicate with a Macintosh user through Communicator Server, messages from the Macintosh computer are not displayed correctly. However, messages from the Windows XP-based computer can be displayed correctly on the Macintosh computer.
This problem also occurs if you use WordPad to view an RTF stream that comes from a Macintosh computer. For example, on the Macintosh computer, you copy an RTF stream to a text file. When you use WordPad on the Windows XP-based computer to view the content, the content is not displayed correctly.
This problem occurs if the message or content contains double-byte character set languages.
Note This problem does not occur on a Windows Vista-based computer.
A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
