Symptoms

You run Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Setup to upgrade an instance of SQL Server 2008. However, on the Instance Selection page of the Upgrade Wizard, the version of the instance to be upgraded differs from the actual version.

Note To view the actual version of the instance of SQL Server 2008, you can run the following query in SQL Server Management Studio.

select @@version

Resolution

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for SQL Server 2008. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Status

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 1.
