SYMPTOMS
When you try to install Microsoft Forefront Security for Office Communications Server (FSOCS), you receive the following error message:
Unable to verify that the account is a member of the RTCUniversalServerAdmins and RTCProxyUniversalServices domain groups. Office Communications Server may be unable to start after setup completes. Do you wish to continue?
CAUSE
This problem may occur if one of the following conditions is true:
  • You try to install FSOCS on a server that is located in a child domain of a root domain.
  • You use a local administrator account to log on to the server on which you try to install FSOCS.
  • You use an account that is not a member of the following domain groups to log on to the server on which you try to install FSOCS:
    • RTCUniversalServerAdmins
    • RTCProxyUniversalServices
RESOLUTION
If you confirm that the user account is a member of the RTCUniversalServerAdmins and RTCProxyUniversalServices domain groups, you can safely ignore this error message and complete the installation. FSOCS will function correctly.

If the user account is not a member of these two domain groups, exit the installation and contact your domain administrator to add that user account to the RTCUniversalServerAdmins and RTCProxyUniversalServices domain groups.
