SYMPTOMS
In a Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) environment, you create a daily recurring appointment in the Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 SP2 client. You specify a reminder time for this recurring appointment. However, when you try to change this appointment by using Microsoft Office Outlook Web Access, you receive the following error message:
You cannot perform this operation unless you shorten the reminder time. Reminders in a recurring series cannot appear before the start of the previous occurrence
CAUSE
This issue occurs when the reminder time for the recurring appointment occurs before the end of the previous occurence. In the Outlook 2007 SP2 client, you can create such an appointment item. However, Exchange Server 2007 SP1 considers this behavior invalid. Therefore, if you try to change the appointment by using Office Outlook Web Access, the Exchange Server 2007 SP1 server validation rules block the operation.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, install Update Rollup 9 for Exchange 2007 Service Pack 1.
