After installing the System Center Operations Manager 2007 Web console component on a Windows Server 2008 computer that is separate from the RMS server, you may receive the following error message when you try to access the Web console URL:
HTTP Error 401.2 – Unauthorized. You are not authorized to view this page due to invalid authentication headers.
This can occur if IIS authentication is not configured on the Windows Server 2008 computer.
To resolve this issue, install and configure the IIS authentication modules, including at least Integrated and Forms authentication.
For information on how to install and configure authentication in IIS 7, see the IIS 7.0: Configuring Authentication in IIS 7.0 topic. To do this, visit the following Microsoft Web site:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc733010.aspx
Note This can occur even though the pre-requisite check and the install completes successfully on the Windows Server 2008 computer.
