By default, if you use the CONTAINS Predicate, the search terms in the CONTAINS predicate are hit-highlighted

This article has been archived. It is offered "as is" and will no longer be updated.
Symptoms
If you use the CONTAINS Predicate, the search terms in the CONTAINS predicate are hit-highlighted. This is by default.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, apply both the following updates:
  • 968857 Description of the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 hotfix package (Sts.msp): April 28, 2009
  • 968859 Description of the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 hotfix package (Coreserver.msp): April 30, 2009
This Hotfix provides an option to turn off hit highlighting for the CONTAINS clause when you use the STSADM command. When it is turned off, no query terms will be returned. Therefore, there will be no hit highlighting.
Status
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
