FIX: The setting in the Sql command variable file is not generated in the deployment script when you use the My isolated development environment option in Microsoft Visual Studio Team System 2008 Database Edition GDR

SYMPTOMS
You use the My isolated development environment option in Microsoft Visual Studio Team System 2008 Database Edition GDR to generate a deployment script. However, the Sql command variable file is not generated in the deployment script.
For example, you perform the following actions in a Microsoft SQL Server database project in Visual Studio Team System 2008 Database Edition GDR:
  • In the Deploy tab of the project properties, you click the Configure deployment settings for drop-down list and select the My isolated development environment option.
  • You define a variable in the Sql command variables file.
  • You deploy the project to a database.
In this example, you notice that the SETVAR statement for the variable is not included in the generated deployment script as expected.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because there is a bug in the .targets file that breaks the isolated development environment.
