A search operation in Outlook does not return a correct result if there is a corrupted HTML message in the target folder in an Exchange Server 2007 environment

This article has been archived. It is offered "as is" and will no longer be updated.
SYMPTOMS
In an Exchange Server 2007 environment, the store process encounters a corrupted HTML message in the target folder, and then it returns an “ecCorruptData-MAPI_E_CORRUPT_DATA" message. In this scenario on a client such as Microsoft Office Outlook, fewer search results than expected or no search results are returned from the server.

Note You expect the store process to log an error and then continue to search rest of the folder in this scenario.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, install Update Rollup 8 for Exchange 2007 Service Pack 1.

Then, the search operation continues.
