On a Windows Vista machine that appears to have the Microsoft Games loaded, launching a game (such as Freecell) from the “Start Menu” > “All Programs” > “Games” menu does not start the game.
Inbox Games are not fully installed on the system.
There are two methods to resolve this.
This method involves turning the Games feature off and then back on.
1. From the Start Menu select Control Panel. In the Control Panel select "Programs". Next select "Turn Windows features on or off"
2.Turn off Games by clicking the box next to Games. This will remove the check from the box. Select "OK". Select Restart to reboot your system.
3. From the Start Menu select Control Panel. In the Control Panel select "Programs". Next select "Turn Windows features on or off"
4. Turn on Games by clicking the box next to Games. This will add the check to the box. Select "OK". Select "Restart" to reboot your system.
The Games should now launch correctly from the Start Menu.
1. In the Start Menu, under Accessories, right click on "Command Prompt" to "Run as administrator".
2. At the command prompt type
Start /wait ocsetup InboxGames
This will take several minutes to complete. Once the command is complete you will return to the command prompt. This command does not return a message.
You will need to manually reboot the system to complete this method.
The Games should now start correctly from the Start Menu Games section.
