When you enable concurrent garbage collection (GC), you expect the threads of a program to pause for a short time during the GC process. However, in a Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2-based program, the threads pause for a very long time. Therefore, the program seems to become unresponsive.
This problem occurs because the code goes into a slow path in the mark phase of the concurrent GC.
