When you try to retrieve your e-mail messages from your Hotmail account in Entourage 2008 for Mac, you receive one of the following error messages:
Error message 1

Error message 2
Entourage cannot find the server. Verify the server information is entered correctly in the Account Settings and that your DNS settings in the Network pane of System Preferences are correct
Error Message 3
HTTP error. Access to the resource is forbidden. The Windows Live Hotmail folder list could not be received.Error: -18597
This problem occurs because of a change in the way that Entourage for Mac interacts with Hotmail. As of September 1, 2009, Hotmail/MSN/Live accounts that are configured as webDAV can no longer be used for accessing the Hotmail service through Entourage.
To continue to receive e-mail from your Hotmail account through Entourage, you have to set up Hotmail as a POP account. Before doing so, if the Hotmail account is still in Entourage and the old folder list is present, move the folders from the Hotmail section of Entourage to the, “Folders on My Computer” or, “On My Computer” section. If this is not done and the webDAV account is removed then the folders will no longer be accessible in Entourage. The email should still all be available online via www.hotmail.com .
To set up a Hotmail account as POP, follow these steps:
In a Web browser, sign in to your Windows Live Hotmail account. After you sign in successfully, you can sign out.. This is to test that the username and Password are correct.
On the Entourage menu, click Account Settings.
Click the arrow next to New , and then click Mail.
At this point, either the New Account dialog box or the Account Setup Assistant dialog box is displayed. The dialog box that is displayed determines whether you can set up your Hotmail account automatically or manually. Follow the appropriate steps.
If you see the New Account dialog box, click Setup Assistant.
Follow the instructions in the Account Setup Assistant dialog box.
Manual account setup (For Entourage 2004 and 2008 before SP2)
If you see the Account Setup Assistant, click Configure Account Manually.
In the Account type pop-up list, click POP, and then click OK.
On the Account Settings tab, locate the Account name box. In the Account name box, type the name that you want to use to refer to this account in Entourage.
Under Personal Information, type the name and the e-mail address that you want to use.
Note The name that you type is displayed in the From field of e-mail messages that you send from the account.
In the Account ID and Password boxes under Receiving mail, type your e-mail address and password.
In the POP server box, enter pop3.live.com
Click Click here for advanced receiving options.
Specify the following option:
This POP service requires a secure connection (SSL)
The completed Receiving mail settings should resemble the following:
Under Sending mail, type smtp.live.com in the SMTP server box.
Click Click here for advanced sending options.
Specify the following options:
SMTP service requires secure connection (SSL)
SMTP server requires authentication
Use same settings as receiving mail server
The completed Sending mail settings should resemble the following:
Click the Options tab.
Under Server options, specify the following options:
Leave a copy of each message on the server
Delete messages from the server after they are deleted from this computer
The completed Server options settings should resemble the following:
After you complete these steps, the Windows Live Hotmail account should be displayed in the Accounts window as a POP account.
Messages from your Windows Live Hotmail Inbox folder will appear in Entourage in the folder list under On My Computer. Messages in folders other than the Inbox folder will be available only on the Windows Live Hotmail Web site. unless they were copied over to the local folders before the webDAV account was removed. To download and organize messages that are currently in folders other than your Inbox, you must follow these steps.
Remove any rules that are set up on the Hotmail Web site that move incoming mail to a separate folder.
Create a temporary folder in Entourage to store all the messages that are currently in the Inbox.
Move all e-mail messages from the Inbox on your computer to the Temp folder.
Create a temporary folder on the Hotmail Web site. Then, move all e-mail messages from your Inbox to the temporary folder.
Create a folder in Entourage for each folder that is on the Hotmail server.
On the Hotmail Web site, select the folder that contains the fewest e-mail messages. Move all the messages from that folder to the Hotmail Inbox.
In Entourage, check for new mail. The messages that you moved from the other folder to the Inbox should all download to your computer.
Move all the e-mail messages into the correct folder in Entourage.
On the Hotmail Web site, move those messages back to the folder from which you originally took them.
Repeat steps 6 through 9 for any remaining folders.
Entourage does not receive messages from your Windows Live Hotmail Junk folder. We recommend that you sign in to your Windows Live Hotmail account in a Web browser periodically (at least one time per month) to determine whether any important messages were directed to the Junk folder.
If you previously set up an account in Entourage by using the "Windows Live Hotmail" account type, you will have to set up the account again in Entourage as a POP account. In this case, if you previously set up any rules in Entourage for the old account, you will have to re-create those rules for the new POP account. If you have messages in the folder list under the old Windows Live Hotmail account, you can copy the messages by dragging them to a folder under On My Computer.
